Safe oral sensory input for babies who mouth and chew — providing appropriate tactile feedback that meets the sensory need safely
Specifically designed for children with oral sensory needs who chew on clothing, non-food items, or need oral input for regulation. Always match chew intensity to your child's chew strength.
Building lip closure, jaw control, and oral motor strength — used by SLPs alongside OTs for children with low tone, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and feeding difficulties
Silicone chew tools should be cleaned with mild soap and water or washed on the top rack of the dishwasher after each use. Inspect before every use — replace immediately if you see any cracks, tears, bite-through marks, or changes in texture. Even tools that look intact should be replaced regularly for intense chewers. Never share chew tools between children.
Chew tool selection — especially intensity level — should be guided by your child's occupational therapist. The wrong intensity level can be a safety hazard. Your OT may also want to introduce chew tools in a clinical setting first before home use. This page is a starting point for understanding your options, not a replacement for professional guidance.
